KRONENWETTER, WI (WSAU) — There’s one water system in Central Wisconsin that has good news when it comes to PFAS.
Officials in Kronenwetter say their voluntary testing returned numbers well below the 20 parts per trillion mark.
“We have two wells. Well #1 was a little less than 2 [PPT]. Well #2 had 2.34 [PPT],” said Downey. “Obviously we are very pleased with it. We’re sitting really good.”
Downey says that doesn’t mean their water is perfect. They are still dealing with detectable levels of manganese and iron, which can leave discolorations in sinks and toilets. Though the levels are not high enough to prompt health warnings.
A fix for those issues is in the works. Downey adds that they will continue testing for PFAS with the Wisconsin DNR; though he doesn’t expect levels will change much.
