Fatal Fire
TOWN OF DAY, WI (WSAU) — The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office is opening a homicide investigation after two people were found dead in a housefire in the Town of Day Wednesday morning.
Fire crews were called to the home on Rangeline Road at about 6 AM. Officers reported the fire as suspicious in nature, and immediately notified the Sheriff’s Office after discovering two bodies.
No further details about the incident have been released. Crews are working to identify the victims and protect the scene from inclement weather as the investigation begins.
Four fire crews from Marshfield to Edgar and Stratford all responded to the scene. The Red Cross also assisted first responders.
Conducting the criminal investigation are the Wisconsin DOJ/State Fire Marshal and Marathon County District Attorney’s office.
