MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — A heavy police presence in the parking lot of the Marshfield Wal-Mart led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man on suspicion of child porn charges.
Officers say the incident started at about 11 AM when they made contact with the man while he was in a semi. They asked him to surrender, but he refused.
The suspect then displayed a knife, and officers set up a perimeter. Negotiations continued and after about an hour the man exited the truck and was arrested without further incident.
He was then transported to the Marathon County jail in Wausau. According to police, he faces ten counts of possession of child pornography and one count of failure to comply with an officer’s orders.
No further information has been released. Officers from both the Marathon and Wood County Sheriff’s Departments and Spencer Police helped in the incident.
