WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Election officials will meet in the City of Wausau and Marathon County to canvas results from last week’s vote, which will likely open the door for a pair of recounts in two razor-thin races in each.
Wausau’s first Alder district has Carol Lukens leading John Kroll by two votes, and in the 11th Supervisor district incumbent Alyson Leahy currently holds a three-vote lead over challenger Randy DeBroux. If those results hold following Monday’s canvas, both losing candidates do have the right to ask for a recount.
“The city candidate would file that petition with the City Clerk and the County Board candidate would file that petition with my office,” said County Clerk Kim Trueblood. “We are anticipating that there will be a recount in both of those races.”
In both cases the petition must be filed by 5 PM on the third business day following the canvas, meaning both candidates would have until Thursday to do so.
