RIB LAKE, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Four students are uninjured after the school bus they were on Wednesday morning got stuck on a flooded road.
A note was sent to parents by Rick Cardey, District Administrator for the Rib Lake School District. The bus crossed over an area where water was running over the road at about 7am.
The bus driver was taken to a nearby medical facility for precautionary reasons, and has since been released.
The driver was able to pick up four students, then 15 minutes later, tried to cross the same spot in the road. It was then the shoulder gave way, and the bus got stuck.
The four students and driver were able to get off the bus and walk to a nearby house. They were checked by EMT’s there, and all four students were released to the school or to their families.
Another bus was dispatched to pick up the rest of the route.
The Rib Lake Fire Department, Ogema Fire Department, Price County Ambulance Service, Taylor County Ambulance, Price County Sheriff’s Department and Spirit Township all assisted in the incident.
