George Hawley
ANTIGO, WI (WSAU) — A Wolf River man was sentenced on Thursday for operating a large meth lab out of his garage.
George Hawley will serve six years in prison and five years on extended supervision after pleading no contest to numerous charges. Those included first-degree recklessly endangering safety, possession of meth precursors, and possession of paraphernalia used to produce meth.
In addition to the prison and probation time, Hawley will also pay a DNA surcharge and court costs but will not be forced to pay restitution. Additionally, contact with one victim will be left at the discretion of their agent and other family members.
The charges were the result of a search of his home one year ago which turned up more than 60 meth production containers and other elements including chemicals, medication, and needles. The 40-year-old was also recorded purchasing OTC Sudafed, which contains a key ingredient for meth, more than 60 times between January 2018 and January 2021.
Hawley was given shorter sentences for some of the charges, with all sentences running concurrently.
