WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A judge has found probable cause to move the case against Richard Mason forward.
The 28-year-old was in court Thursday where Judge LaMont Jacobson also called for a competency examination to be conducted in the next 30 days.
He’s accused of shooting another man in the abdomen outside a home on Emter Street in January, then taking off. Witnesses say they saw him standing over the victim, continuing to point the gun at him as well.
He was arrested a few blocks away without incident.
Bond for Mason was initially set at $100,000 but was raised to $250,000 in early February.
Mason has not entered a plea to the charge of attempted homicide but has pled not guilty to one count of carrying a concealed weapon. A pretrial conference is set for May 10th.
