MADISON, WI (WSAU) — State Representative Pat Snyder of Schofield says he and the other authors of a medical marijuana bill are still tweaking it after a hearing in the state Capitol last week.
Speaking with WKOW’s Capital City Sunday, Snyder said the bill discussed on April 20th, ironically enough 4/20 day, is a far cry from what was first proposed.
“The bill [first proposed] in the Assembly changed a lot after we talked with some of the parties that were involved,” said Snyder. “Some of the other problems or concerns that were brought up, I think that there are ways we can find solutions to that and be able to move this forward.
One of the sticking points in the bill is whether the drug can be smoked. Currently, that’s not allowed in the proposal. But Snyder says he’s warming to the idea. “Especially the Veterans, they’ve talked about that and they like that [idea.] I’d be willing to consider that down the road.”
Lawmakers do have plenty of time to put the finishing touches on the bill. Both chambers have recessed with no scheduled floor time in the foreseeable future.
