UPDATED: April 24th- Kaminski was found safe, according to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office. The alert was canceled, and no further information was released. The original story from April 20th is below.
STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A 67-year-old Stevens Point man is considered missing and endangered after wandering away from his home.
Andrew Kaminski hasn’t had contact with friends and family since the evening of April 4th, which is not like him. They add Kaminski has a history of mental health issues and did recently have a breakdown.
His family adds that he had been struggling and did recently make a comment about going “into the wilderness.” They speculate that could mean either going to the UP of Michigan or Montana.
Kaminski is described as 5’10”, 220 pounds, with brown balding hair and a long gray beard. He left in his gray 2013 Ford F150 with WI registration plate RW 5504. The vehicle has a unique topper and tailgate which has the rear window for the topper integrated into the tailgate. A photo of the back of the pickup can be seen below.
It’s not clear what day Kaminski may have taken off. Additionally, he did not arrange for someone to take care of his chickens, which is something he would typically do if he were leaving.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Portage County Sheriff’s Office at 715-346-1494 and ask for Detective Blake Porter.
