PHILADELPHIA, PA (WSAU) — A national TV audience was witness to the moving strike zone of umpire Angel Hernandez on Sunday night baseball with Kyle Schwarber ejected in the 9th inning for voicing his displeasure. They were also witness to another fine outing from the Brewers pitching staff in a 1-0 win Sunday night at Citizens Bank Park.
Eric Lauer pitched six scoreless innings giving up five hits with 13 Ks and just one walk. Brad Boxberger, Devin Williams and Josh Hader each pitched a scoreless inning with Hader earning his 8th save.
Phillie pitchers were almost as good. Aaron Nola pitched seven scoreless innings giving up just one hit with 9Ks.
The Brewers only managed three hits in the game with a 9th inning Christian Yelich sac-fly accounting for the only run of the game.
In a scheduling quirk, the Brewers return to Milwaukee for one game tonight vs the San Francisco Giants before heading back east for a three game set at Pittsburgh. Pre game show tonight at 4:30 pm on WSAU.
