STEVENS POINT, Wi (WSAU) — The UWSP baseball team swept a four game series from UW-Eau Claire over the weekend.
The beat the Blugolds in a DH Saturday 5-2 & 10-5 and swept a pair Sunday 14-5 and 11-5.
Saturday Matt Baumann collected five hits including his first home run of the season. Payton Nelson had four hits including a home run, with three RBIs and a run scored. Casey Pickering moved to 5-0 on the season in game one. Nick Carpenter picked up the win in game two.
Sunday the Pointers got four hits from Jakob Boos including a grand slam, his first homer of the season. Lucas Luedtke, Aaron Simmons and Nelson also hit home runs on the day combining for nine RBIs over the two games. Five pitchers combined for the game one victory. Iola native Marcus Jaworski threw three innings. Wisconsin Rapids native Tyler Beyer picked up the win in game two.
The 16th ranked Pointers are now 24-4, 15-3 in WIAC, and will travel to Whitewater for a DH on Tuesday.
The UWSP softball team dropped a pair of 5-4 games at UW-Eau Claire on Saturday.
Sara Traxel had two hits in each game, drove in two runs in game one and scored two runs in game two. Jesse Kicker had three hits on the day
The Pointers, now 15-13, will host UW-Platteville for a DH on Tuesday.
