WAUSAU, Wi (WSAU) — Sentencing has been delayed for Manuel Hoffman. He’s the man convicted in a plea agreement of various charges linked to an incident involving a woman, a high speed chase and an injury to a Marathon County Sheriff’s deputy.
Back in December of 2019, Hoffman forced a woman into a vehicle and crashed near Edgar. Deputies responded to a report of Hoffman trying to kill the woman. Before he could be apprehended he carjacked a Good Samaratin that had stopped to help and led authorities on a high speed chase before crashing near Hwy F.
He fought while being arrested and broke a bone in a deputies hand. A taser was used to get him under control.
In March Hoffman was convicted of charges including first degree recklessly endangering safety, taking a vehicle without consent and with the use of force and OWI.
A sentencing hearing was re-scheduled for June 17th. Hoffman remains in jail.
