LAS VEGAS, Wi (WSAU) — The Green Bay Packers made two selections from the college National Champion Georgia Bulldogs in the NFL draft’s first round on Thursday night.
With the 22nd selection they took inside linebacker Quay Walker and with the 28th pick added defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt.
Walker is 6’4″, 241 pounds and ran a 4.54 40 in draft preperation. He’s expected to slot in next to newly resigned De’Vondre Campbell. He’s the first inside linebacker taken by the Packers in the first round since AJ Hawk in 2006.
Wyatt promises to be a disruptive presence in the interior of the Packer D-line as he was at Georgia. He’s 6’3, 304 pounds and was named to the Coaches All-SEC First Team and as an All-American.
The Packers will have three selections in today’s portion of the draft. They have the 53rd & 59th pick in the 2nd round and the 92nd overall pick in round three.
