WESTON, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Officials say there is a major leak in the Weston Aquatic Center pool. About 16 gallons per minute have been leaking from their pipes and into the ground below.
The cause of the leak is not known, but operators noticed their water levels had been off.
Crews were on site Thursday, and officials say they have a plan to fix it. Mark Maloney, the president of the village’s Board of Trustees, says repairs will cost between $4,000-$5,000.
“To not have the pool open, to not generate that kind of income, and to have that service to the community, definitely outweighs the $4,000-$5,000 expenditure over a 90 day period,” he added.
Tests will be done on the pipes over the next few weeks.
Opening day for the aquatic center is Saturday.
