MAUSTON, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Department of Justice says the man suspected of killing retired Judge John Roemer at his home last Friday has died of his injuries.
Douglas Uhde was pronounced dead on Tuesday, according to the Juneau County Medical Examiner. The 56-year-old had been declared brain dead on Saturday but was kept on life support for purposes of organ donation.
Uhde is said to have shot himself after killing Judge Roemer. Investigators say he had a “hit list” of other targets including state and local lawmakers and national figures.
The investigation into the incident continues, and a motive for the attack has not been given. Friends and family of Roemer are asking for privacy at this time.
