TOWN OF SOMO, WI (WSAU) — A report of a burglary caught by a trail cam turned into a trip to the hospital for a Merrill man after he became disorderly while in police custody.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, it started when a property owner reported that his trail cam had caught someone on his property that shouldn’t have been there. When officers arrived they found the suspect in a shed putting some items in his pockets.
Officers took him into custody but as they were transporting him to the Lincoln County Jail, he became aggressive and started banging his head against the protective cage in the squad car, causing a head injury. He then kicked the window out of the car.
That led officers to call for an ambulance to take him to a local hospital. While at the hospital, the suspect remained disorderly; screaming, swearing, and spitting at medical staff.
After treatment, the unidentified man was booked into jail on several unspecified charges along with a probation hold.
No officers were injured in the incident.
