MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The man accused of running from police as they were knocking on the door of his hotel room as part of a drug raid is now facing federal drug charges.
Lawrence Lavergne is facing counts of possessing and distributing 50 grams or more of meth as part of an indictment from February 21st.

That’s when a SWAT team and other law enforcement attempted to confront him at a Rothschild hotel room. Lavergne jumped from the window to try to avoid the confrontation, leading to a brief chase.
When investigators searched his hotel room, they found 267 grams of methamphetamine, several items of drug paraphernalia, and $7,362 in cash.
If found guilty of the federal charges he faces at least five years in prison and up 40 years.
Lavergne has been facing state charges in connection with the incident as well. No action on those charges has been scheduled at this time. The 40-year-old did suffer minor injuries in the fall from the second-story window.
