ROTHSCHILD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — Police in Rothschild have arrested a suspect in connection with a boat theft from a private dock in Rothschild, according to WAOW TV.
The incident happened near the Domtar Plant along the Wisconsin River. According to the boat’s owner, the suspect paddled up in a canoe at about noon and stole the boat in broad daylight.
The owner was able to get pictures of the suspect as they took off towards Mosinee. That’s where police found the watercraft abandoned near Half Moon Lake.
Officers say the canoe was likely stolen as well.
The suspect hasn’t been identified, and officers say they were not acquainted with the boat’s owner. No further information has been released.
Residents who live in the area of Birch Street in Rothschild are being asked to check their property for missing items as well.
