TOWN OF PINE RIVER, WI (WSAU) — A Schofield woman is facing numerous charges and another possible suspect is on the loose after Lincon County Sheriff’s Deputies tried to stop their vehicle for an equipment violation last week.
It started when a K9 deputy observed the vehicle driving along County Highway W in Pine River. The officer made a U-turn and attempted a routine traffic stop, but the driver pulled into a driveway to elude the officer.
The Deputy pulled off further down the road to wait for the vehicle. The driver did try to continue on her way but pulled into a second driveway when she saw the officer waiting. The vehicle drove behind some buildings, then later came back out onto Highway W before the officer was able to successfully initiate a stop.
K9 Poncho was brought out to search and indicated the possible presence of drugs, but none were found in the vehicle.
The Deputy then contacted the property owner for the second driveway the vehicle pulled into. They said a passenger jump from the vehicle with a backpack and ran into the woods. The vehicle then pulled out of the property by driving over a new septic system, causing damage.
The Deputy was able to recover the backpack which contained illegal drug items.
The person who fled the vehicle remains at large, according to Monday’s update from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. The 33-year-old Schofield woman faces charges related to the possession of meth, criminal property damage, fleeing an officer, and numerous counts of bail jumping.
