Seth Wakefield
RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — The man accused of helping a friend plot the murder of his ex-girlfriend will not go to trial in September.
Court records show that a jury status conference and trial for Seth Wakefield were removed from the schedule on Monday, replaced with a September 6th status conference.
WXPR Radio in Rhinelander reports that Judge Patrick O’Melia, who has been handling the case, is set to retire in August after 15 years on the bench. Governor Tony Evers will appoint a judge to serve the remainder of O’Melia’s term, which goes through the spring of 2027.
Wakefield, 25, had been scheduled to go to trial on September 6th for charges of being an accomplice to murder. Investigators claim that he helped Christopher Terrell Anderson plot the killing of Hannah Miller by conducting surveillance on her apartment in Rhinelander to let him know when she would be home.
When asked if he thought he should tell someone about Anderson’s alleged plot, he said he didn’t think it was any of his business.
Anderson, who is facing charges of first-degree intentional homicide, is scheduled for a motion hearing on July 15th and a mid-August trial. His case is being handled by Oneida County Judge Michael Bloom.
