MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Anti-Semitic pamphlets were left near some Marshfield homes Sunday night and Monday morning near Connor Park.
The pamphlets are said to include anti-Semitic text and imagery, and police say they were spread across a five-block radius.
It’s currently believed the incident is isolated, and police want to find who is responsible. “Right now we want to find out who’s been disseminating the pamphlets and what their motives are with doing that, and it’s obvious that our citizens just want it to stop at this point, so that’s the most important thing,” said Jody Geurink, the chief of the Marshfield Police Department.
One person speaking out at Marshfield’s City Hall says these pamphlets are a small part of what is a broader issue. “But we have at our doorsteps today is a reminder of what lurks beneath the surface, raised by a political climate increasingly intolerant, aptly prone to violence, proudly divisive,” said Jeff Kleiman of Marshfield.
Marshfield Police are still searching for any suspect involved, and if you have doorbell camera video in that area that may help their process, they want you to contact them.
