MILWAUKEE, Wi (WSAU) — Bobby Portis opted out of a player option with the Milwaukee Bucks for this coming season and became an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday.
The move was expected and the Bucks could still re-sign him to a new deal although there is reportedly other interest.
The Bucks hold “early Bird rights” to Portis which means the team can exceed the salary cap to offer him a multi-year deal.
Meanwhile, the Bucks did extend a qualifying offer to Jordan Nwora before the deadline on Wednesday. It’s reportedly worth around $2 million.
Nwora can accept that offer, sign a new deal with Milwaukee or sign with another club. If he does get an offer elsewhere, the Bucks would have a chance to match it.
