MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Two Florida men have been charged in federal court for kidnapping an Abbotsford man and taking him to Florida.
Gerardo Hernandez Anselmo, 34, and Felipe Engracia-Gonzalez, 39, are said to have driven from Kissimmee, Florida to Abbotsford and forced the victim into their vehicle.
According to the complaint, they then took the victim 1,400 miles back to Florida because he had to “work off a debt” that was said to be owed to the suspects.
Both Anselmo and Engracia-Gonzalez were arrested in Florida. A date for their initial appearance in the US District Court for Western Wisconsin has not been set. Both face a maximum penalty of life in prison if found guilty.
The investigation into the incident involved law enforcement in both Florida and Wisconsin including the Kissimmee Police Department, Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI.
