WAUSAU, Wi (WSAU) — Noah Stroming retired the first 11 batters he faced and went on to pitch a no-hitter as Wausau beat DC Everest 6-0 in the AAA Region 2 Tournament on Wednesday night at Athletic Park.
Only a walk to Nick Cotter spoiled a potential perfect game for Stroming as he struck out 10.
The other games saw Marshfield beat Wisconsin Rapids 4-3 scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ben Dietsche drove in the two winning runs.
Plover got a two-run homer from Thomas Hunt in the first inning and made it stand up for a 2-0 win over Stevens Point. Jon Nafe pitched the win.
Today’s schedule has Wisconsin Rapids facing Stevens Point in an elimination game at 1pm. Marshfield faces DC Everest at 4pm and Wausau will play Plover at 7pm.
Admission is $5 per day. The Tournament runs through Saturday with the winner advancing to the State Tournament in Sheboygan next week.
