The goats are returning to Wausau’s 400 Block Wednesday evening.
The city and county parks department will hold another Goatapaloza event to allow families to get up close with some of the goats that are currently working to clear Barker-Stewart Island of invasive plants.
Goats will be on display for all to see or take selfies with, and there will be a goat-themed scavenger hunt as well. There will even be samples of goat cheese.
This is the second year that Wausau has enlisted the services of the goats to help clean up the invasive species as a more environmentally-friendly option over using herbicides. The practice has also been used by other municipalities as well.
After a one-year experiment in 2021, the City Council voted to permanently allow for the use of goats by the city and county for weed control purposes.
Wednesday’s event will run from 4-6 PM. Then at 6 the next Concert on the Square will begin with the Copper Box taking the stage.
