WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau School Board has accepted Ka Lo’s resignation letter to the media as her formal resignation to the board, meaning there is now officially a vacancy to be filled.
District Clerk Cassie Peck confirmed to WSAU that the board gave Lo until July 15th to file a formal resignation, which she did not do. The board then decided to use her media statement as formal resignation to comply with State Statute, School Board Policy, and to continue to keep the Wausau School District moving forward.
Lo made the announcement in a media release on June 27th, saying she had been given an opportunity that would “take her out of the Wausau area, and therefore I will not be able to represent the constituency further.” She did not elaborate on what that opportunity was.

Lo then accused some on the board of having indifferent attitudes and creating a toxic environment, while also thanking those who did support her during her time on the board.
Board President James Bouche has previously told WSAU News that they plan to fill the vacancy through an application and interview process among interested residents. The board would then vote a new member into their ranks from that pool of applicants, who would then finish Lo’s term which runs through next April.
It’s unclear when the board will begin the application process.
