TOWN OF HULL, WI (WSAU) — The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office seized nearly two dozen dogs and a cat from a home on Chokecherry Road in Hull Monday.
The investigation started with a tip about unsafe living conditions for both people and animals at the home. Officers made an initial investigation, then called in members of the animal control enforcement team to have a look as well.
Officers say there were numerous signs of neglect including behavioral issues in some of the dogs. Representatives from the Humane Society of Marathon County were brought in to help catch the animals for evaluation by a veterinarian and to be transferred to a shelter.
All told 22 dogs and one cat were taken from the property. Sheriff’s officials add that three dogs and three cats remain at the home, and will be taken at a later time.
No further information about the incident has been released, and the property owner was not identified.
