NEW YORK, NY (WSAU) — Multiple reports are indicating that the Milwaukee Bucks will return to the NBA’s prestigious Christmas Day lineup this year with a game against the Boston Celtics.
Sources including The Athletic and the Associated Press have indicated that the league schedule makers have picked five high-profile games including both of last year’s finals teams.
Other games likely to be scheduled on Christmas Day include defending champions Golden State against Memphis, which will be the first-ever Christmas Day game for the Grizzlies. Philadelphia will play the New York Knicks and the LA Lakers are slated to take on Dallas.
Two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets will also take on Phoenix.
Memphis was one of two clubs that has not appeared in a Christmas Day game. If the report holds, their selection would leave the rebooted Charlotte Hornets as the only team that has not appeared.
Other clubs including the Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, and Detroit Pistons haven’t played on the holiday since the early 2000s.
Tip-off times for the games have not been finalized. The NBA is expected to launch the full 2022-23 regular-season schedule later this week, which will feature a return to the traditional late-October to April calendar with the playoffs going into June.
