WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau Police say a convicted sex offender who went missing last week was located in Missouri.
Adam Lee Eckart went missing from transitional housing near the Marathon County courthouse on Thursday, November 18th, and was taken back into custody by authorities in Cooper County, Missouri at 11:40 AM Sunday. No other details regarding his capture were released.
He previously served prison time for exposing a child to harmful materials and second-degree sexual assault of a child. He had recently been released from prison for his most recent charges and had been living in transitional housing near the Marathon County Courthouse at the time of his disappearance. His extradition back to Wisconsin is pending.
Cooper County, Missouri is located along Interstate 70 near Columbia, about halfway between St. Louis and Kansas City.
