LOS ANGELES, CA (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers handed the best team in baseball only their sixth shutout of the season with a 4-0 win on Monday night at Dodger Stadium.
The Brewers led 1-0 on a 4th inning Luis Urias home run when they added three insurance runs in the 9th. Christian Yelich had an RBI double, Hunter Renfroe a sac-fly and Keston Hiura hit a solo homer, his 3rd home run in the last two days.
Eric Lauer went 5 innings to pick up the win. Lauer gave up five hits with two Ks and two walks. Peter Strzelecki, Hoby Milner, Matt Bush and Jason Alexander delivered four scoreless innings against the best offense in the league.
Milwaukee could not pick up any ground on St. Louis as the Cardinals beat the Cubs 1-0. They did pick up a half game on idle San Diego in the wild card chase.
The Brewers and Dodgers will square off again Tuesday night…pre-game show at 8:35 on WSAU.
