RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — The man accused of threatening two Northwoods school districts this summer had his bond reduced on Thursday by an Oneida County Judge.
Adam Bauman was being held on a $50,000 cash bond, but that was reduced to a $5,000 signature bond under the condition that he live with his grandfather.
He will also be ordered to have no contact with any school officials in Oneida County and will not be allowed to have access to the internet and may not leave Oneida County without permission from the court.
Bauman is accused of making threats against the Northland Pines and Three Lakes schools back in early June. According to investigators, Bauman posted a picture of himself holding a rifle with a caption that suggested he needed to find a former employee of Lakeland Union High School, leading officials at both schools to cancel activities and lock down their campuses for the day. He was also expelled from the school in 2019 for walking down the hallways and pretending to shoot into classrooms.
Investigators say the 18-year-old had made other “dark comments” about the gun to a friend. He claims he bought the gun for home protection and to hunt coyotes.
He will return to court on August 30th for a pretrial conference.
