MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Two rushing touchdowns from Braelon Allen helped the #18 Wisconsin Badger football team to a 38-0 win over FCS foe Illinois State on Sunday at Camp Randall.
Allen led the offense with 14 carries for 148 yards, including a 96-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter, the first offensive touchdown of the season for the Badgers. He would also score on a one-yard plunge in the 3rd.
QB Graham Mertz would find Chimere Dike for a 16-yard scoring pass in the third. Isaac Guerendo added a one-yard touchdown run of his own midway through the 4th.
Wisconsin would open the scoring in the first with a 100-yard interception returned for a touchdown by Safety John Torchio.
Mertz was nearly perfect on the day going 14/16 for 219 yards and one score with no interceptions.
Wisconsin punted just twice in the game and did not surrender a turnover.
The Badgers return to Camp Randall next week to take on Washington State out of the PAC 12. It’s the first game of a two-year agreement between the schools which will conclude in 2023 when Wisconsin visits Pullman to play the Cougars on September 9th.
