DENVER, COL (WSAU) — Despite Christian Yelich leading off the game with the longest home run in the major leagues this season, the Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Colorado Rockies 10-7 in 10 innings on Tuesday night at Coors Field.
Craig Counsell pulled starter Brandon Woodruff after seven innings with a 6-1 lead. The Brewer bullpen could not make it stand up.
Luis Perdomo allowed four runs in the 8th without recording an out. Peter Strzelecki gave up the tying run on a homer from Randal Grichuk. Grichuck hit his second home run of the game, a three run blast off Taylor Rogers in the 10th to win it for Colorado.
The Brewers had re-taken the lead in the 10th as Willy Adames doubled in Yelich.
Hunter Renfroe hit his 25th homer of the season. Yelich hit his 12th to lead off the game, which traveled 499 feet.
The Brewers lost ground as the Cardinals, Phillies and Padres all won. They are three back in the wild card chase.
