WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau School District and their school bus provider, First Student, are facing a shortage of bus drivers as the new school year has started.
The shortage is so severe that it’s forcing the cancellation of some bus routes on school days. Parents receive notification of route cancellations but sometimes not until the day of.
The shortage of drivers is also affecting after school activities like sporting events.
Bob Tess of the Wausau School District has said it’s averaging around 2 cancelled routes each day so far.
