MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Max Scherzer was perfect through six innings and the New York Mets topped the Milwaukee Brewers 7-2 on Monday night at American Family Field.
It was Scherzer’s first start since September 3rd and he won his 10th game of the season. He was pulled after six innings due to pitch count concerns.
Corbin Burnes was not as effective. He gave up five runs on seven hits with 4 Ks through 5 2/3 innings and fell to 10-8 on the season.
The only Brewer runs came on a two run homer from Rowdy Tellez in the 7th inning. It was his 32nd long ball of the season.
Milwaukee falls 2 1/2 games behind the idle Phillies and Padres in the wild card chase. The face the Mets again tonight. Aaron Ashby returns from the IL for the start in what is expected to be a bullpen game for Milwaukee.
You can catch the action on WSAU…pre game show at 6:05.
