MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers had a chance to pick up ground in the wild card playoff chase but couldn’t get it done, dropping a 7-5 decision to the New York Mets on Tuesday night at American Family Field.
The Brewers led 4-0 before Brad Boxberger and Taylor Rogers allowed home runs that gave the Mets the lead. Pete Alonzo hit a three run homer off Boxberger in the 6th inning. Taylor Rogers came in to the game and promptly walked three straight hitters before Francisco Lindor hit a grand slam.
Rogers has struggled since being acquired in the Josh Hader trade, giving up six homers and having an ERA of 6.63.
The Brewers tried to rally, loading the bases in the seventh but Jace Peterson struck out to end the threat.
Willy Adames drove in two runs for Milwaukee with the other RBIs going to Andrew McCutchen, Kolten Wong and Omar Narvaez.
The Brewers remain 2 1/2 games behind the Phillies who lost and fall 3 1/2 behind San Diego who won. They face the Mets this afternoon and you can hear the game on WSAU…pre game show at 12:35
