SCHOFIELD, WI (WSAU) — The City of Schofield will hold a joint Community Development Authority and Economic Development Committee meeting next Monday for a closed-session discussion on what to do with the property that’s currently occupied by City Hall.
All three proposals call for multi-family housing to be built at the site, and all three come from Wisconsin-based developers including S.C. Swiderski out of Mosinee and Plover-based Lokre Companies. The third group, Commonwealth Development Corporation, is based out of Middleton.
Lokre’s proposal calls for more than 100 units including 30 condominiums and 100 apartments. Swiderski would build a mix of nearly 100 studio, one, and two-bedroom apartments, and Commonwealth envisions 50 affordable-housing apartments. Their plan is also contingent on low-income housing tax credits from WHEDA.
All three proposals include outdoor living space and surface parking as well. Lokre and Commonwealth’s plans would be complete by the summer of 2024, while Swiderski’s plan calls for completion by summer 2025.
Additionally, all three developers are looking for a level of city involvement. Commonwealth at $1 million, and Lokre and Swiderski at $5.8 and $4.7 million, respectively.

City Hall will be relocated to the current city garage in the next few months. The city hall relocation committee will meet next Thursday, September 29th to consider a final draft of the floor plans for the location on Alderson Street.
Relocation of City Hall has been an ongoing topic over the last year, as the city looks to grow its tax base and take advantage of the waterfront location of City Hall.
