COLUMBUS, OH and MADISON, WI (WSAU) — A sellout crowd at LaBahn Aren saw eight players record goals as the Badger women’s hockey team blasted St. Thomas 9-1 in WCHA play.
Nicole LaMantia scored twice. Additional goals came from Britta Curl, Casey O’Brien, Maddi Wheeler, and Laila Edwards.
St. Thomas scored their only goal in the second period on a power play.
Badger GK Jane Gervais made 19 saves in the game. St. Thomas ran two different goalies out in the game, with Alexa Dobchuk giving up eight goals and making 30 saves in two periods to take the loss.
Wisconsin is now 5-1-0 and has won five straight after losing their season opener to Penn State. Next weekend, they’ll travel to St. Cloud for a pair against the Huskies.
The Badger men built a three-goal lead by the 21st minute of their game against Ohio State only to see the Buckeyes come back and then some for a 4-3 Big Ten conference win.
Goals came from Jack Horbach, Brock Caufield, and Owen Lindmark. Jared Moe made 24 saves.
Wisconsin is now 0-2 on the season and in Big Ten play. Their first non-conference action comes next weekend when they host St. Cloud State.
