WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – A second plea deal has been reached in the death of a 5-year-old child.
Johnathan Stolp, 41, reached an agreement with prosecutors. The terms of the plea agreement won’t be known until his next court appearance in November. The child’s mother, Sumitra Stolp, has already agreed to a plea bargain.
Everest Metro police were notified when the Stolp’s adopted daughter was hospitalized. The parents gave conflicting stories about what happened. Johnathan claimed the child fell off playground equipment. Sumitra says she tripped while holding the child and dropped her.
The child was transferred to Marshfield Children’s Hospital suffering from a fractured skull and brain bleeding. Doctors told investigators that the injuries were not accidental and that the child had been given large amounts of Nyquil and Tylenol.
The Stolps had been caring for the child since January and had completed the adoption process in July.
