WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — Two homes near Wisconsin Rapids have been destroyed after strong winds spread fire to both structures.
WAOW TV reports that someone was illegally burning tires in the 6000 block of County Highway F when a gust of wind spread the flames. Fire crews responded to the scene at about 12:45 Wednesday morning, but were unable to save the buildings.
No injuries were reported but several pets were lost in the fire.
A separate incident occurred at the Saddle Up Bar in the Town of Remington. Officials believe that fire was electrical in nature.
Due to both fires being reported within one hour of each other, multiple departments from the Wisconsin Rapids area had to be dispatched to each location through the state’s mutual aid system.
