PHILADELPHIA, PA (WSAU) — It was a defensive struggle but Milwaukee was able to open the regular season with a 90-88 win over the 76ers on Thursday night.
The Bucks scored just nine points in final 10 minutes of the game after building an 80-67 lead. The 76ers went on a 13-0 run that tied the game at 80. Wesley Matthews hit a go-ahead three pointer with 23.8 seconds left and Brook Lopez sealed it with two free throws in the final two seconds of the game.
Giannis Antetokounmpo hit his first five shots and went on to score 21 with 13 rebounds and eight assists. Lopez had 17 and Grayson Allen added 12. Bobby Portis had 11 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
The Bucks, now 1-0, will host Houston Saturday night at Fiserv Forum.
