RIB MOUNTAIN, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Department of Administration has accepted an incorporation proposal for the Town of Rib Mountain.
Administrator Gaylene Rhoden says the 110-page document is a huge step forward for their efforts to incorporate into a Village next year, meaning the process is now in their hands. “They will provide their determination, [meaning] did we meet certain requirements as outlined.”
Rhoden says the document includes supplemental materials such as maps and images along with all the details anyone could ever want to know about the town- from its population to what’s in the soil. “It’s more than you ever wanted to know,” said Rhoden.
The DOA now has six months to go over the documents and Rhoden expects they will come back with questions during that time. Additionally, they will partner with the Town to hold a hearing on the matter, which she says will be their opportunity to defend the move in person. That hearing will be held at the Town Hall at a date to be determined.

If the DOA approves the plan, the process moves to the circuit court system which will set a date for a public referendum next summer. Rhoden says residents can stay informed on the process through the Town’s newsletter. The topic is also a standing agenda item for all Town board meetings. They also set up information tables at polling locations in the town during Tuesday’s mid-term election to inform voters about the process.
