CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (WSAU) — Former Wisconsin Badger WR Devin Chandler was one of three people killed in a shooting near the University of Virginia campus Sunday night in Charlottesville.
Chandler, a Cornelius, NC native, played for the Badgers in 2020 and 2021 before entering the transfer portal. He was in his first year with the Cavilers.
Two other players were killed in the incident as well. They were identified as Lavel Davis and D’Sean Perry. A suspect is in custody.
The incident prompted a shelter-in-place order near the UVA campus.
Wisconsin has canceled its football media sessions today. Interim Head Coach Jim Leonhard released a statement on Twitter expressing his condolences to the UVA community and Chandler’s family, saying he had a “lasting impact” on his teammates in his two years and adding “once a Badger, always a Badger.”
