STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — Stevens Point Mayor Mike Wiza has released an artist rendering of the next artistic light that will be installed along the Green Circle Trail in Pfiffner Pioneer Park.
The light will be called “Fish on” and depicts an angler reeling in a fish from the Wisconsin River. It’s the second of what Mayor Wiza hopes will be several artistic light poles that will grace the trail which runs through one of the city’s most popular parks.
“This started out as a cool community-based idea and gathered momentum because of our generous community support. Everyone pulled together again to make this happen” said Mayor Wiza in a press release. “I’m excited to get it installed and to see people enjoying these wonderful art pieces for years to come.”
“Fish On” was designed by Mackenzie Biadasz and funded through a generous donation from the Bill Cook Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America. It joins the first piece, called “Singing in the Rain,” which was installed last year and funded through Wiza’s winnings in the River Cities Mayor’s Art Challenge.

Mayor Wiza says a third piece has been designed as well, which will depict a lumberjack wielding an ax in honor of the significance of the timber industry for the region. The city is also taking ideas for future projects as well with Wiza adding “I just love the creativity we see in the designs of these artistic light poles. I can’t wait till they run the length of the Green Circle in Pfiffner Park.”
The projects are privately sponsored, and any group or foundation willing to help fund a future design is asked to contact Wiza’s office.
