WESTON, WI (WSAU) — The D.C. Everest School District is informing parents that School Resource Officer Frank Wierzbanowski has been placed on leave by the Everest Metro PD.
In an email sent to parents this morning, a copy of which was obtained by WSAU News, the district did not disclose a reason for the move.
“We understand our [SROs] play an important role in our schools. During Officer Wierzbanowski’s absence we will continue to collaborate with the Everest Metro PD to provide our students and staff with the resources they need,” the statement adds.
Chief Clay Schulz confirmed the move, saying it was made amid an “internal review for possible policy violations,” adding he would have no further comment.
Students are clamoring for EMPD to reverse the move. A petition on change.org has already been signed by over 1,400 signatures, calling Officer Wierzbanowski “a true friend and father figure,” and “a blessing to so many.”
