NASSAU, BAHAMAS (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers basketball team couldn’t hold late leads at the end of regulation and in overtime in a 69-68 loss to Kansas on Thanksgiving Day.
Bobby Pettiford Jr. won the game with a layup with less than 1 second remaining after tracking down a rebound.
The Badgers also held a 3-point lead late in regulation, before Kansas’ Kevin McCullar Jr. hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime.
The Badgers trailed by as many as 15 points early in the second half. A 9-0 run late in the game gave Wisconsin the lead.
Jalen Allen has 29 points and 14 rebounds for Kansas. Tyler Wahl led Wisconsin with 23 and 10 rebounds.
The Badgers will play USC in the consolation game on Friday. Coverage will begin at 11 AM CT on WSAU.
The Wisconsin womens basketball team let a 20-point second-half lead slip away and dropped a 68-60 game with undefeated Georgia on Thursday in the US Virgin Islands.
Wisconsin went cold at the end of the 3rd quarter and most of the 4th.
Maty Wilke led the Badgers with 14 points. Avery LaBarbera had 13 points, six rebounds and six assists.
The Badgers, now 3-3, will play Seton Hall today at noon.
