STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The Stevens Point Area School District has launched a new program that will accept donations to help cover unpaid school meal balances.
According to the district, the number of families who qualify for free or reduced-price meals has risen to 38%. At the same time, the district-wide unpaid meal balance has jumped to $13,000.
The program launched in late December. Those who wish to donate can do so at the district’s website, www.pointschools.net.

The plan was announced one week after a donor paid off all outstanding meal balances at the Pacelli school district, which amounted to about $600.
