A Weston man is scheduled to reach a plea deal in connection with a fatal 2021 stabbing in Weston
David Morris will be in a Marathon County courtroom on Tuesday for a plea and sentencing hearing for five felony counts including first-degree intentional homicide. Morris is accused of killing Renee Hindes in her Weston apartment, then threatening police with a large knife when they arrived at the scene.
He was shot by police at the scene but recovered. Officers jailed him on a one million dollar bond in August 2021.
Court records show he also faces a count of battery by prisoners, which has been cross-referenced with the homicide charge. Other counts against him include false imprisonment and two counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety.
The case had been scheduled to go to trial in late November 2022, but that was wiped off after a plea deal was reached last fall.
Tuesday’s hearing is scheduled to begin at 1:15.
