WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – Officials with SentryWorld in Stevens Point have announced that they will keep the course closed until after the 43rd U.S. Senior Open Championship this summer. Director of Golf Danny Rainbow says this is being done to “Prepare for the championship and make sure the golf course is in impeccable shape as we head into the championship to give the players and patrons the best possible experience”.
Rainbow added that this move will only cut their season by two to four weeks compared to usual.
He also discussed the economic impact the championship will have on the community, as estimates show that the event could bring in more than $20 million in business, as potentially more than fifty thousand spectators are expected to attend.
The championship will be taking place June 29th through July 2nd, and a wide variety of ticket options are available for purchase directly on the SentryWorld website. Those looking to book tee times after July 4th can do so now at the SentryWorld website.
