STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) – The Stevens Point community is continuing to rally behind a program started by local residents to help students enjoy school meals. School Finance Manager Dr. Michael Kurtz says that “by January 15th, we had received over $6,000 in donations, and we thought that was just an incredible response from our community.”
Kurtz went on to discuss how the school was able to use those donations along with some additional funds they had received before “Money for Meals” was formed to begin paying off the unpaid meal balances that were incurred during the fall semester.
Overall, over $12,000 of those balances have now been paid through the “Meals for Meals” program.
He also added that people looking to donate can go to the district website and use the QR code to make a donation, and more information about the program is available at the school’s business office.
